Precinct Delegate or Precinct Captain
Thank you for considering or signing up to be a neighborhood leader for the Democrats as a Precinct Delegate or Precinct Captain.
As a Precinct Delegate, you are able to vote at any County Meeting, County Convention, and State Convention as long as you are a MDP Member. You do not have to worry about deadlines like other MDP members.
To be a Michigan Democratic Party (MDP) Member, go to https://michigandems.com/join/
More Importantly, You can be a neighborhood leader:
- Committed to be informed about voting options and sharing that information. See Voter Rights Training by clicking here
- Informed on resources to find out about candidates and share that information, such as the League of Women Voters website vote411.org
- Eyes and ears of your community needs and concerns to share with elected officials
- Host simple meet & greets with Candidates or Elected Officials with your Democratic or all neighbors
- Connect with your nearby delegates and Democrats to work together
A Precinct Captain has the same influence as Precinct Delegate but is not elected or appointed, so they do not have the same voting rights at Party meetings.
The Ingham Democrats have contracted with Wave Michigan as a web tool to help you easily access a list of Democrats in your neighborhood. Below is short video on how it works and how to sign up.
We are asking all Delegates/Captains to reach out to at least 50 Democratic neighbors and make sure they are aware of the recently changes in Election law, especially the Permanent Ballot List, which will help a voter never miss an election again. Research shows that talking with a neighbor who connects with you is the most effective way to get them to vote.
